For Constrained AI Innovators

Built for researchers infrastructure has overlooked

If your work matters and the GPUs are the bottleneck, OpenToken is built for you. Four reasons it works.

01

Designed for under-resourced researchers

OpenToken exists because constrained innovators routinely lose months waiting for compute that researchers in well-funded labs take for granted. PhD students, low-resource-language NLP teams, public health and climate AI projects in the Global South — if your work matters and you can’t easily afford the GPUs, you’re who we’re here for.

02

Right-sized to your workload

We assess what you’re actually doing — fine-tuning a 7B model, running inference at scale, pre-training a domain-specific architecture, building a tonal-language ASR system — and recommend the GPU that fits. You don’t get whatever’s cheapest. You get what your project needs to succeed.

03

Real reliability, not best-effort scraps

Our compute providers commit dedicated capacity, not preemptible leftovers. Once allocated, the access is yours for the agreed window. No surprise reclaim, no “you got bumped because someone paid more”, no silent throttling. You can plan iteration runs around it.

04

We’re building a collective

Allocated researchers join a community of peers facing the same constraints — sharing techniques, raising visibility for each other’s work, and building a body of Global South AI research that wouldn’t otherwise exist. Your project gets a public profile and institutional attribution; you get connected to others building alongside you.

Process

How it works

From application to allocation, four steps. We aim to come back with a decision within a week.

1

Create an account and apply

Sign up at the OpenToken portal — takes about a minute. From there you complete a short project application: what you’re building, the model and dataset, what you’ve tried so far. About 10 minutes; no need to be polished.

2

We assess and propose hardware

Within a week we come back with a vetting decision and, if accepted, a recommended hardware configuration based on your actual workload. Not the largest GPU we can find — the right one for the work you described.

3

You get matched to compute

We allocate from our network of compute providers. Access details land in your inbox along with onboarding instructions. Allocations are typically a few weeks; we’ll discuss extension options as you approach the end.

4

You build, we stay alongside

Use the compute. Reach out when you need help — onboarding, technical questions, troubleshooting. We track your progress quietly and check in on outputs without getting in the way.
